Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

My ex-boyfriend (we have a child together) was sentenced until 2/11 for Domestic Violence 3rd (felony), and is to have no contact with me or come to the residence. Our mobile home has both of our names on it (I plan on re-residing there soon; I left during his last binge). What are my options to have him removed from the mortgage to be completely free from this violent alcoholic?

Apply for a new mortgage in your name only, pay off the old mortgage and pay him whatever equity interest he has in the mobile home, and get him to sign off on the title.
