Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

I think this would fall under Civil Litigation, but I'm not positive.

In 1998 I bought a home. In 1999 my boyfriend moved in with me. In 2002 we had a child together. Since the birth of our daughter I have been trying to get out of the relationship. I have asked him on numerous occasions to leave, but he won't. Because I'm unemployed and he pays all the bills he believes that all property that I owned before knowing him, is his. Everything is in my name.

Since I have known him he has never had a drivers license and has been to jail three times for driving offenses. I'm afraid that this liability could get me sued, sent to jail or interfer with the welfare of my daughter, if he is involved in an acciddent in which someone is injured or killed.

What is he entitled to? What are my rights? Can I serve him with an eviction notice? There is no physical abuse, I've just had enough and want out of the relationship. We reside in Michigan, and from what I have been able to find out, common-law marriage does not apply to our situation.

You only incur liability if you let him drive your vehicle. Is it his daughter too? You really want to boot him after living off him for the last 10 years? Common Law marriage was outlawed in 1957.

You should get some counseling before you kick him out. Guys sometimes get pretty angry when this happens.
