Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
Fired from job due to Negligent Homicide
I worked for the usps for four years. I was in an accident, A man died, I was found guilty of Neg. Homicide. I went to jail for 30 days and would have missed only 3 scheduled work days. This was a true accident. I was since contacted two monthes later to be at a meeting to discuss my being fired. Called and said I would not be there. They are now a month later trying to send my some other documentation. I have refused to sign for it. The district manager called me to inform me the package was coming. He also said I was charged with a felony and thats why they fired me. This is not a felony but a misdemeanor. Is he slandering me? I was in an auto accident I went through a stop sign I failed to see on strange road. They have since changed the stop sign.

It's a "high court" misdemeanor. It's not a felony but it can be considered a felony because you can be incarcerated for over one year.
