Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Hello,

I seem to have a situation, however, from what I've read on the internet, (which obviously isn't perfect, that's why I'm reaching out) I think I have it figured out.

I am 22, a friend, also 22, and I had sex (one time thing), she told me she was on birth control, about a month later, she tells me she's pregnant. Now over the next 2 weeks or so, we talked about both options, neither of us truly pushing one way or the other, I didn't necessarily want the baby, mainly because we're not a couple, this was definitely an "unplanned" due to the fact that she *was* (I'm still unsure of that, but anyways) on birth control. Well, finally due to those facts and the fact that we're both college students and we have little to no money, we went ahead with the abortion. Now yes, I was favoring this choice, but by no means did I force her into this, she willing went to the doctor's after we had discussed it and had it done (around Feb. 16). Right after, she had mentioned to me that she may need help paying for it...ok, now, I have never formally agreed, verbally or in writing that I would pay any specific amount, I told her that I would help if I could, but there was nothing ever specific mentioned. Now, she has payed the bill in full, 100%, now, this is one point of my contention, I have not seen it yet, but I'm sure I will soon. She says the bill was $4400, now is that unusual? It was done in the first trimester with the pill method. There were a couple visits to the hospital with multiple ultrasounds because she backed out once. Now, on March 19, she informs me that someone may be dropping off court orders to me. That's it, never says what for or anything. After talking with her, I got her to hold off on those orders for now. But she told me that she wanted me to pay half of the bill and that's what the orders were for. And now, I'm willing to help, but from my understanding, I have no legal obligation to help. I was doing it because obviously it took 2 of us, but still, does she have a case?

Also, I was informed today, that I have to sign something if we're working it out privately. Now, if it is the case that I have no legal obligation, do I just have her go ahead and give me the court orders and just solve it that way? Or if she does have a case (either way really), do I settle by working things out privately?
