Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Liability issues of hosting music concert at privite home

My sixteen year son is in a band. They want to hold a concert at our home with his band and several others. They will charge admission to this concert. We have several concerns. What are we responsible for and what are our liabilities? Do we need to add special insurance beyound our homeowners insurance? What is our liability if someone is injured? Most of the children will be underage. What step need to be followed to prevent drinking or drug use, so we are not liable. What is our liablity if drink or drugs occurs that we are not aware, and the child has an incident after leaving our home. This just sounds like a bad idea, and would like some fact to explain to our son why this is a bad idea.

This is a bad idea. First, you will need a permit if you are charging admission. Any outward drinking will have to be stopped. This is the type of thing that should be held at a venue set up properly. William S. Stern
