what does a minor child receive?
my brother recently died he has only one child who is 3, he was never married to the childs mother they were not even living together at the time of his death. the mother of the child wants all of my brothers belongings saying that they belong to the boy. my mother and father are still alive and would like to keep a few items that my brother owned. my brother was living in my mothers house when he died and all of his stuff in there. do we have to give all of the items or are we entitled to any of his belongings?

Your brother's assets, assuming he did not leave a will, will pass "intestate". Intestate means without a will. The state has a statute which outlines specifically how the property of an individual who dies without a will is divided.
