Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
M.I.P.
I recently got an M.I.P while visiting a friend at GVSU. this is my first offense. I live in ann arbor and its policy is a diversion program that puts the minor on probation along with other responsibilities( attending alcohol awareness meetings ect.) but in hudsonville there is no such program and the offense will go on my record. I do not want this on my record, so i plan to plead not guilty. how do i make my case if i am representing myself? I will do anything to have this off my record. and i am aware that if this is my only offense it will be wiped in 5 years but i do not want to chance it. please help me!

You're too young to screw up real bad. Get a lawyer through the local bar referral service. Beg, borrow etc to get the money as you have no clue what you are doing. If you really are not guilty, you can't afford to represent yourself as you'll lose. If you are guilty, then you really need a lawyer. William S. Stern

At least ask for a court-appointed attorney. The cost is minimal. There are a number of ways to keep this off your record.
Appearing before a judge without counsel tells the court that you don't care or take the charge seriously - which is not a good idea.
