Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
My neighbors have been writing letters to my mother inlaw & 2 to the fire cheif, saying me and my children harass them, throw rocks at their car and smoke weed. When I received the first letter back from the fire cheif, my husband tried to talk to the neighbor to resolve the situation. She beleives her son, who is the person writing the letters. Is there anything I can do about it?

If her son is older than 18 he is an adult, and you can file a complaint against him. A false accusation of criminal activity is libel, and is actionable. If the son is younger than 18, his mother may be held liable for his actions. You will need to consult a general practice or criminal law attorney.
