Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

''Official'' initals.

Hypothetically, if my official name happens to be Bobo Underwood Melbourne, am I legally stuck using BUM as my initials or can I have them officially changed to the first three letters of my last name, in this case MEL? My job requires that I inital papers.
