Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
if I am part of a lawsuit being that I work for a company that was sued, and I am the director - when we went to mediation they came up with an agreement, but the way they want me to sign it I am not comfortable - as I have a right to sue for slander and defamation of character - the agreement for me to sign says:
jean dresen, Individually and as Director of White Lake Ambulance Authority

Yes, if you sign that individually and on behalf of a company, most likely both are foreclosed from suing in the future. That's the point of settling cases. You might find an attorney to fully review the agreement and advise you. I do this quite often.
