Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Posession of property

My ex and I had a verbal agreement that I could store my piano in his basement until I could afford to have it moved out. It's been there 2 1/2 years without a peep from him until last week when he wrote me an email stating I had exactly 10 days to get it out or he would ''sell it and keep the proceeds to cover storage and selling expenses''. Of course I'm moving the piano out, but it made me wonder if he had a legal right to do what he said.

Re: Posession of property

After 2.5 years, yes, he possibly does, as the property could be deemed abandoned, despite your verbal agreement and the time that has elapsed. If you want it, I suggest you move it immediately. And in the future, get everything in writing.
