Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Process Serving in Michigan

I'm involved in a small claims case, the defendant is in Ohio and I'm in Michigan. I need to serve her and all she has is a P.O. Box (I have tried every method known to get a street address but this is the only address listed). She is in the process of an eviction case here in Michigan (different case) and she has an attorney. Can she be served through her attorney here? If so, what is the process?

Re: Process Serving in Michigan

File a motion (request) to allow substituted service upon her by serving her lawyer as she will then get actual notice of the proceeding against her and have an opportunity to be heard. You will need to attach an affidavit to the motion stating that you have attempted service by other means to no avail. Be as specific as possible. William S. Stern
