Protection against a false report of fraud in unemployment benefits

A friend of mine in michigan has been unemployed and collecting benefits from the state since July 20. Her former employer was a family run bridal gown store. In the past few weeks my friend has helped another former employee open up her own bridal gown store but has received no compensation for her assistance. The former employee then called the Michigan Unemployment Benefit ''Fraud Line'' to claim that my friend has been receiving pay under the table from the owner of the new store since July 21 (It should be noted that the new store was not purchased until July 30). What actions does my friend have to not only protect herself from losing benefits or bring fined by the state for fraud, as well as any civil/punitive actions against those who made the false allegations.

The burden will be on those who accuse her. If it comes to that, bring in the so-called new employer to testify that it's a bunch of garbage. Forget about suing the person reporting. It is a waste of time as they will get out of it by claiming good faith.
