Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

satisfaction of judgement

i had a debt of $12,500.00 placed in general civil court deemed mine.

i paid it in full. kept all receipts. sent letter to the judge to file s-o-j.

he sent back a hearing notice for two weeks from now. can i represent myself? should i represent myself? is this a very big deal? or in and out, just show my receipts?

Re: satisfaction of judgement

Contact the court and find out why a hearing is necessary. Was the satisfaction of judgment signed by the plaintiff or their attorney, as they are the ones that have to release you from the judgment. Get their signatures and then either resubmit to the court, or call the court and find out why a hearing is necessary. Your receipts, etc. should be enough evidence, however, the judge will definitely want to confirm the payment with the plaintiff/plaintiff's lawyer, who should also receive notice of the hearing.
