Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
I submitted an online application to Childtime Learning Centers and was contacted for an interview. I went on the interview and was told concluding the interview that the next step to employment would be if I were contacted and told to go get a doctors clearance and clearance from an FIA office. I was e-mailed an told to get those clearances and that they want them turn in asap so that a pay rate could be established for me and that they wanted me in place at the center by the end of the week. I proceeded to obtain the necessary paperwork and turned them in awaiting contact to establish the pay rate and to start my job. a week went by and I contacted her by e-mail just to check in with them. The following day I received a e-mail back of regret, stating that due to lack of enrollment I was no longer needed. I am devastated to say the least because I have been looking for work for over two years and believed I had a job. I am obese and hope that in no way was a factor in their ultimate decision not to hiring me. Do I have a case?

If you gave up a job in reliance upon the promise of this new job, then maybe, just maybe, you'd have a case. However, based on what you told me, there is no case. It would be virtually impossible to prove that the weight was a factor in the employment decision.
