Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Being sued but I have no money

I am being sued and I have no savings or more than $600 in my bank account. I own my car which is probably worth $1,000 right now. I work 2 jobs and average about 30-35 hours a week making just over min. wage. 1 job at a restaurant and 1 is helping take care of a developmentally challenged child. I am also pursuing a law enforcement degree.

My insurance max was 100,000 and this guy is suing me for 500,000. My attorney is already paid for by the insurance company.

What I would like to know is:

1) Will this be in front of a jury?

2) If a judgment is against me, what can he take?

3) If they garnish my wages how much could they take?

Re: Being sued but I have no money

You need to speak with your attorney from the insurance company. Usually these suits are settled within policy limits. If not, you may have a bad faith claim against your insurer. Talk to them to express your concerns. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss further. Tim Klisz
