Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
My uninsured car was involved in an accident involving a pedestrian back in May. The car was being driven at the time by my boyfriend without my knowledge or permission. I did not file charges, but he was arrested for the incident and subsequently went to trial for attempted assault. The charges were reduced to misdomenor, and no damages were requested or awarded. I have just received notice that the other party involved is sueing me for unspecified damages. Do I have any recourse or rights in this matter?

As the owner, you are responsible for damages done by the use of your uninsured vehicle. Your rights are to hire an attorney and defend your interests in the case as if you were the insurance company. Visit me at kliszlaw.com to discuss further. Tim Klisz
