vehical accident inside instant oil change

My wife got her oil changed at local instant oil change. While performing tire maintence the air gun popped off its hoses and whipped around damaging vehical and entering inside of car. My wife was not hurt but car substained $900 damage. Owner of establisment asked for us to get a estimate and he would pay for damages. We obtained estimate and now he wants us to fix car and he will pay for damages when we give him the reciept for bill.My question is do we have to get car fixed in order to be compensated for estimated damages.

He should pay you the $900 and consider himself lucky no one was hurt. If he does not, sue in small claims.William S. Stern
