Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Vehicular Manslaughter

My friend sideswiped a car and the car behind her hit the car again, and the driver was killed.

She is being sued for manslaughter by the victims family. The other car that stuck the vehicle was a government vehicle. Can she be sued if she wasn't charged for it?

She was not involved with the investigation and got her car back the next day..

Re: Vehicular Manslaughter

Anyone can be sued - doesn't mean they will win or prevail - they will have to prove that your friend's negligence was a direct proximate cause of the death. Did she have insurance? If so, she needs to notify her auto insurance carrier immediately, as they will defend the suit. If not, she needs to immediately retain a lawyer. Please feel free to contact me to discuss the legal fees and set up a meeting if she needs a lawyer.

Thanks.
