Legal Question in Health Care Law in Michigan
release of medical information
I am the director of a home health agency. My question is for the release of medical information do we need to have a new release form signed every year or is the form we have signed on admission cover us for as long as we have the client? Thank you. --name removed---name removed-- RN, BSN

Re: release of medical information
Unless the law changed during the admission stay, the release consent signed by the patient or their authorized representative should continue to cover release of the information during the stay. Hopefully, you've obtained consent broad enough to cover most areas so that a change in law may not substantially affect the release terms.
Would be happy to review your release consent form.
