my british born son moved to usa with his dad for 2 years from age 11 to 13 then moved back to uk. he has a green card which expires in 2016 and he is 16 years old now. can he still visit the us on holiday?

Hello:
You son is a legal permanent resident of the United States, however he has not returned to the US in the last 3 years.
Legal permanent residency assumes a continuous presence in the United States. Your son can visit the US, but given the facts an immigration officer may assume that your son abandoned his residency.
It may not happened but it is a possibility and your son will have to demonstrate otherwise.
