Legal Question in Immigration Law in Michigan
I have been a green card holder since 1998. I lived in the US continuously from 1998 to 2008. On approximately September of 2008 i went live outside of the united states. I did not keep any bank accounts open during that time, I did although keep coming back to visit. From Sept 2008-Feb. 2011 I made 2 trips to the united states. (Jan, 2009 for 4 weeks, on Feb 2010 for 3 weeks) I decided to move back to live in the US on Feb 2011, and have been here ever since. I have decided that I would like to apply for my Citizenship, but I'm wondering if the time that I was out of the states will in any way impact my application. I'm also undergoing a divorce process, that will be finalized in the next month or so. I have a son as a product of this 13 year marriage, he resides with his mother. We have been separated for 2 years now. Im I safe to apply for my citizenship or should I wait?

More information is needed about your visit dates in and out of the US. More than likely the answer is to wait. Divorce etc is not likely to have an impact on citizenship.
