Legal Question in Immigration Law in Michigan

My husband had a pending I-485 case

I am a US citizen, and I married my husabnd 3 years ago, he has a pending I 485. He recently left the country on a travel document issued bu USCIS. When he returned they held him in chicago, now he has to go for a defered inspection, but because when he first came here is visa expired and he did not petition for the 485 untill after 1 year, they are saying they can send him back to sweden for 10 years, is there anything we can do to stop this, PLEASE HELP!

At this point, there are a lot of unanswered questions. If the visa was expired, was the I-94 current? Was the travel permit current? I suggest you call us so we can get more info and give you a better response.
