i am international student supposed to have visa j1, i applied the DS form for J1 , but then the embassy issued to me a Visa F1 ,,, so the visa is F1 , the DS form is J1, i got social security nomber thu, now i want to know what type of visa i have, J1 or F1

If you were issued an F-1 Visa, that is the status you have - not J-1.
