Passport name change - H1B & L2

HI,

I have a valid H1B petition approved through my current employer. Now my husband is having L1 visa and he is in US. I wanted to join him but I couldnt find any opening there with my current employer. Now my questions:

1.If I take L2, I need to go for change of name in my passport. After the name change happens, is it possible to stamp for H1 visa with my previous name if i found any opening after name change?

2. Is it possible to get the H1b stamping through other company without interfering my current employer hence they are not ready to give the USCIS approval notice.

Hi Savi, You can take the L2 and come to U.S. on that and also work by applying for an EAD. You can work whereever you are offered a job and are not tied to a specific employer. If you have any other questions, please email us.
