Legal Question in Insurance Law in Michigan

Life insurance and suicide

My father committed apparent suicide on July 16, 2008. His life insurance policy has a 2-year clause that states only premiums will be paid out if the applicant commits suicide within 2 years of the policy date, which was August 1, 2006. Meaning, he committed suicide 2 weeks before his policy would have paid out completely. Is there any legal recourse for this? Is there a scenario where this money could be collected?

Sincerely,

Michael
