Legal Question in Insurance Law in Michigan
I got an OWIL back in Jan of 2003. It is still showing up on my insurance - I was under the impression that after 7 years this would no longer show up on my driving record. Please clarify what the laws; in relation to the offense, car insurance, and the DMV, were back when I received my OWIL and how I can go about getting this taken off of my record.
Thanks
Diane

You received erroneous information. The Owi never leaves your driving record. The 7 year time has to do with second offenses, but you will have it in the record permanently. It is also exempt from Expungement. Insurance might be a shop around situation as this shouldn't really be affected this long after. Check around on that.
