Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Michigan
Legal advice on creating a new website
I need legal advice on creating a new company which will be a website that is mainly based on profit from advertisement. The website will take user's personal documents, either created on the website or uploaded, and allow them to be viewed by anyone upon request and permission. Also, Is it legal for a user to have legal access to documents created by another person, which are given to them for their own personal use and benefit, uploaded onto my website? Is it legal for a user to create a document and sell it to another user? My website will recieve the transaction cost.

Re: Legal advice on creating a new website
You'll need to have comprehensive website terms of use which permit the sort of transactions you're describing. You'll also want to have certain disclaimers and indemnities to protect yourself in the event of documents that infringe the rights of third parties.
We handle these types of matters on a regular basis - feel free to contact my office to discuss your situation further.
