Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Michigan
Patent rights
I'm being asked to assign the rights to an invention to my employer for $1. The invention was made in the line of business. Do I have the right to ask for a more worthwhile sum? The market potential for the invention is upward of $60m a year.

Re: Patent rights
As an employee, any creations of yours made as an employee of the business would automatically be owned by your employer anyway as a work made for hire. Unless there are facts unique to your situation, which are possible, the $1 being offered is not even required.
The foregoing is not legal advice, and should not be relied upon as such. You should speak with a qualified lawyer for advice on your specific situation.
