Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Michigan
Posting textbook content to a web site
I attend a community college, and many times students try to buy old editions of textbooks to save money, but the textbook companies change the homework questions at the end of the chapters in new editions in order to ensure students must buy the most recent edition. I'm considering starting a web site where students can go to post the questions at the end of the chapter for the new editions or look it up if they have an old edition, so that students will be able to buy old editions and not have to worry about not being able to do the homework. I don't intend to charge a service fee or anything with this web site, but I may include google ads or a link to donate with paypal. Is this legal? Is it violating any copyright law, to have the content of the textbooks posted online? That is, the content only being the questions at the end of chapters.
