Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Michigan

rental agreement

I live in an apartment building where I signed a 12 month lease stating that my monthly lease is $610.00 a month and that includes water, heat and trash pick up. Question, Can they increase the rent stating that becasue of heating cost they have to increase the rent?

Thank you

Zoe

Re: rental agreement

Unless the lease allows the landlord to adjust the rent for changes in the cost of heating, the landlord is bound by the amount set for rent. The landlord may not unilaterally change the rent, simply because it did not anticipate a change in utility costs.
