Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan
I just accepted a job offer from a company that may be considered competition to my current employer. After I put in notice with my current employer they promptly reminded me I have a signed non-compete agreement on file. Now they are asking me where I am going to work and thus far I have replied that I would rather not say. Am I obligated to tell them because of the non-compete agreement? Do they have the right to make me tell them or to take action to find out for themselves?

They will sue you and obtain a restraining order from you further violating the non-compete. You need to quickly obtain counsel and figure your best course of action. I would read your non-compete very carefully first so you understand what you can and cannot do. Kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz
