Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

commissions

I am a salesman in Michigan. My employer is in Illinois. Throughout 2006 I was paid commissions on sales but was given only sporadic tracking information - it's a family owned company which lost its controller early in the year. Now my employer says he made a big mistake and should not have paid me much of these commissions/overages. Am I legally obligated to return this money? If this is true (I still have no information about what I actually would owe), am I legally obligated to somehow repay? On my most recent paycheck, he withheld a draw against 2007 commission portion. Can he continue to do this until he pays himself back?

Re: commissions

Generally, if an employer overpays you by mistake, he's entitled to repayment.

Similarly, if he underpays you by mistake, you are entitled to payment.
