Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Demotion in a work place

I was told that if I did not sign a paper that I did not understand at work, that I would be demoted out of management. I am a Quality Supervisor and was told I had an altimatum - either sign the paper or I will be demoted to a machine operator (non-management) when I return to work Monday, April 19, 2004. Is this Legal???

Thank you,

Sheila

Re: Demotion in a work place

An employer may demand that you obey orders as long as they are not unlawful. If you don't obey orders you may be discharged. Your narrative does not reveal any unlawful demand.
