Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Demotions

I work in a retail store as manager, my store is closing and I will be transfered to another store as a manager. In a few months this store will also close and a new store is opening. I will again be transfered(to the new store)but as an assistant manager according to my district manager. Not by my choice. I am told I will lose my salary pay and go to hourly. Do they have the right to take my pay from me when its their choice to change my status from manager to assistant manager? This is not being done because of anything I have done wrong.

Re: Demotions

Your employer has the right to make decisions about its business, regardless of your job performance, even if those decisions make no sense to you.

However, if your age, race, sex, or other protected classification influenced its decision, you might have a case if another employee was treated better given similar circumstances.
