Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan
Denied Promotion but expected to due the position for 3 months
I have a question I need to find the answer to. I have been denied a promotion not once, twice but three times this past year. The person who received the promotion has been in the department less than two years. I have heard upper management make comments like we need to find her a home before her two years are up and low and behold they did. I have been slapped in the face by them saying that I am not qualified to receive the promotion full time but now they expect me to do this job over the summer. This is not with-in my job duties and when I did it last summer I was not even offered an upgrade or anything. I don't feel very valued by this organization and my morale is in the tank. I don't want to do the position over the summer because it is highly unlikely that I am going anywhere with this organization is my refusal justified?

you are an at will employee and can be terminated for any reason. You have no inherent right to a promotion. If you feel slighted by them, it might be time to move on. Tim Klisz
