Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan
Employer issues
I filed a claim with the michigan department of labor over a month ago, because i am having problems trying to get my last paycheck from my ex-employer. they said that my ex-employer called them and said he would send me 800.00 of my paycheck, but i made more than 2000.00. They asked me if i would except the offer, and i stated no i would not, its not fair that i worked hard for that money and he wants to keep a big portion of it. the department of labor then said to me that if i do not except the offer it could take over a year for the claim to be investigated. I though the department of labor was suppose to help with these issues. what can i do ???

Re: Employer issues
If the DOL won't help you out on a timely basis, I would say to file suit against the employer in the small claims division of the district court where the employer is located. You can seek up to $3000 in damages and no lawyers are allowed. Good Luck, Tim Klisz
