Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Can a employer make a employee purchase a smartphone and the monthly fee at the employees expense ,even at a discount rate, for work purposes? The use of these phones would be new to the company.

Yes they can. If you refuse you can be fired as an at will employee. Unless you are in a union, you really don't have much bargaining in these kinds of cases.
