Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Employment verification

I was recently terminated due to a negative employment verification. My former employer gave feedback that was in regards to a prank I played on them after my termination. It was not illegal and no one was harmed. But everyone tells me that it is no legal for my previous employer to give any iformation other than to verify that I worked there and if they would or would not rehire me. To be specific, I returned to my old company with a mask that resembled an old man and I was just giving a few employee's a hard time as if I were cenile. Is this legal for them to reveal this info to my current employer?
