Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

I live in michigan work in a non union factory. we just had a fellow worker injured in a work related accident and was sent for a urine test. the pilminary results showed he failed the test and was fired. when the final test came in they showed that he failed because of a prescirption he was on so they brought him back. now everybody thinks he failed a drug test and is effecting outside of work activities. what are my legal rights when my employer requires a drug test. i have no problem with testing just guess we need to protect ourselfs thank you

Drug tests are required by many employers for good reason. If you fail you get fired. If you refuse to test, you get fired. Remember you are an at will employee. www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz

Just be thankful you have a job. Your employer was fair and took the time to reevaluate the decision. FYI, the employer is required by the company's insurance carrier to drug test after an accident.

The employer is NOT responsible for employee gossip. I f you were one of the ones who spread the word and "now everybody thinks he failed a drug test" then you should stop. How this is affecting "outside of work activities" suggests that your community has a lot of time on its hands.
