Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

I was just recently demoted from my management position at the company I work for. The day I was told I was demoted I was introduced to the person taking my position, asked to give my store key back, and offered a sales associate position, which is lesser hours and pay. I asked if it were possible to transfer to another location as a manager, I was told no. I asked why this was happening and the answer I received was because they felt a new face in management was best. I have not received any disciplinary write ups, performance write ups, or verbal warnings about the ability to do my job correctly up until this point. If I accept the offer to become a sales associate I won't get many if any hours and I have a home to take care of. I feel as though I'm being put in a position to quit on my own rather than them tell me I'm fired because they fight employees that attempt to collect unemployment. What should I do?

DON'T QUIT! You'll lose a lot more than your job. .....Perform your assigned duties to the best of your ability. After awhile, when things cool down, you can make a decision after you've had a chance to get lined up for another job. Remember, currently employed workers have a much, much better chance at getting a new job with another employer.
