Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan
Replaced in my Job Assignment - Employment
I have not been fired by my employer, but have been replaced in my position - without being offered another one. I am an executive assistant to a President, who recently retired. The company announced that an internal employee would replace him. I've basically been removed from the position I've held for 7 years, without cause. I have an exceptional work history, including performance appraisals every year at the highest ranking. My company assures me that they will find me something else internally, but honestly, positions at my level do not come along every day. I feel that they are just letting me stew until it bothers me enough to get up and leave. I've beeen told by a few people to contact an attorney and that I may have a case of emplyment descrimination. Does anyone have any insight?

Re: Replaced in my Job Assignment - Employment
you may be being discriminated against by your company, but your facts do not explain how you are "illegally" being discriminated against. You are an at will employee in Michigan without an employment contract. If you are being discriminated against because of sex, race, handicap, weight, height, etc, you might have a case.
