Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan
Responding after an interview by the company
I was interviewed by an office manager who seemed impressed with my credentials but during the interview the subject of what my husband did and how old my son is came up. After I gave a range of salary for the position, the interview was concluded and I thought it went well because the manager said she will call me on (that day) to show your portfolio. I never received a call.

Re: Responding after an interview by the company
You can't allow interviewers to talk about your family if it's not relevant to your job. You have complete control over that, if they ask, change the subject. Your willingness to talk about it gives them the ability to go further than they should, but you're now not in a position to prove that your application was denied because of your family status.
Many employers are really rude and don't feel they have to acknowledge the results of an interview,--even though someone has taken time out of their day to come down to the company and offer to provide services.
Write a thank you letter to the company and hope they get back to you. Don't mention your family.
