Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Termination Baised Upon Non Sufficent Funds Checks - Is This Legal?

I work for a major home improvement center and due to an accounting error I Wrote A check before funds were withdrawable - My bank then charged me a fee of $30.00 and paid the check, this caused the next check (wrote to my workplace) to ''bounce'' ( due to the $30.00 fee) accruing another $30.00 fee, causing last two checks That I wrote to ''bounce'' along with another $30.00 fee for each (all to my workplace) I then recieved a written repremand and my job was threatened with termination, My Question is; is it leagal for my employer to do this or, is my ''consumer'' (off time) activity a seperate situation which is confidential and cannot be held against me as an employee.

You are an at-will employee and your employer may terminate you for any reason at any time unless he treats you differently because of a protected classification (race, sex, age, etc.).

You would be well advised to get your bank account in order and make all those checks good.
