Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Termination question

I was terminated from a job of 21 years, with a Union, for a positive drug test. (marijuana in system) Is there any way I would be able to get my job back, or any legal reason to have been terminated without a second chance, such as suspension, warning, etc. I have since taken a lower paying job, had to file bankruptcy, and also had to take an insurance carrier that does not cover much of anything. I felt being with this company, which is nationally known, for 21 years, without accident, suspension, etc., I should have been given, at the least, a second chance.

Re: Termination question

No, you are NOT entitled to a second chance under the law. If your company policy was that people who test positive for drugs CAN be fired, and you were, then that's that. Seniority has nothing to do with it.
