Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Work related issues

It looks as though I may be charged for embezzelment for allowing my employees to do side work in a dealer ship body shop. Times are hard so I let my guys work on side jobs (1 or 2) to help make ends meet. I received no money for this. I just quit this job for another for more income and all this started. I would also like to know if my direct supervisor is making coments about my wife in a sexual manner it that is considered harrassment. Thanks

Nix on the sexual harassment thing. It doesn't sound like a few comments amounted to a hostile work environment. You can consult counsel though, in case there was more to it than that.

As for the body shop, you took a risk and got caught. The embezzlement is a bit puzzling, but I suppose the theory is that you personally took money out of the "mouth" of the company and misused company resources to your benefit (the guys liked you more).

Doing repair work on and with company property is a far cry from making off with a few paperclips.

You might try restitution in lieu of charges, so get a lawyer to help in negotiation,--you might be able to plead to some lesser charge rather than have them charge you with something more serious.

When times are hard, ...stuff... rolls downhill all that much faster.
