Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan
Workplace Harassment and Paycheck Deduction
I have been harassed by another employee since I started at my company 4 months ago. I have been criticized in front of customers, yelled at, made fun of, been the target of inappropriate and embarrassing rumours, and recently was contacted at my home and again at work to have my family threatened. Management says there is ''nothing they can do'' about any of this. I filed a police report, I was so unsettled, and the officer advised me to quit because the management has no idea how to run a business if they are allowing this to happen to their employees. I have since put in my two weeks. However, recently a sum of money went missing, and it happened to involve the same individual (who has a history of theft and dishonest behavior in the company). Management is unsure when exactly the money disappeared, but they think it may have been on one of our shifts, so they are deducting it from both our paychecks (the amount is about 1/4 of my check). I have never done anything to compromise my personal integrity or work ethic, and have been a great employee for the duration of my employment, as others in the office will attest. Is there any legal action I can take in either of these matters?

Re: Workplace Harassment and Paycheck Deduction
the harrasment really depends on the kind. Illegal or legal. Big difference. I can discuss this with you. In terms of your wages, I would contact Michigan dept of labor, hours and wages division and file a complaint. I think this is improper. www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
