Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

17 year old legal leasor

I signed a lease, with 3 other students, before I turned 18 and have not yet moved into the apartment. My parents refuse to sign with me. Therefore the landlord refuses both to let me move in and refuses to release me from the lease, even if I forfit my 400.00 security deposit. I am really caught in the middle. They are trying to pressure my father into signing the lease. We are wondering if they realize I wan't of age and are trying to cover their tracks. What can I do?

The landlord can't have it both ways. Get an attorney to write him a letter giving him a choice : release you from the contract and return your money or let you move in.

You can't make your parents sign or be responsible for the lease.

This is something that should have been worked out before you forked over the dineros.
