Breaking a lease

Hello, I was wondering if there are any laws stating I could break my lease for buying my first home. My lease isn't up until Feb of 06 but I found a home I don't want to pass up and I am expecting a child so I need more room. I am renting an apartment and I want to break the lease without paying every months rent that I have left. Any suggestions?

Your lease agreement determines when and how the lease agreement can be terminated early and the consequences of early termination. I doubt that needing more room is one of those reasons, but you should read your lease agreement carefully. If yourlandlord has not lived up to his or her obligations under the lease and the law, such as maintaining the property properly and timely, you may be able to break it. Otherwise, you will most likely be held responsible for rent up to the termination date of the lease.
