Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Caught Smoking in Room

The other night me and my roommate had smoked some marijuana in the room of our dorm in ann arbor, michigan. 2 officers came in, asked us some questions and took our information, and confiscated the drugs that were left (very little, less than 1 g) and gave us a card and said we would be contacted. They said they treat things like this as State of Michigan law and not Ann Arbor. I am 19.

You will be charged with possession of marijuana. You could make an agreement with the prosecutor. Ask the prosecutor about the HYTA - Holmes Youthful Trainee Act which law allows a judge to place a youth between 17 and 20 who is alleged to have committed a crime and who has pleaded guilty to that crime to be placed in prison or on probation without a conviction to avoid a criminal record.
